Did you know that Shah Rukh Khan once almost bought an Indian football club?

Shah Rukh Khan's love for sport isn't a secret. The mega movie star has a hefty stake in four cricket teams around the world, including the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In 2012, after Kolkata had just won the IPL, reports surfaced of Shah Rukh's growing interest in getting a 50% stake, worth 30 crores, in one of the oldest and most prestigious football clubs in India, Dempo Sports Club.

The Chairman of the Dempo Group of Companies, Shrinivas Dempo, confirmed in June 2012 that there had been several meetings between Khan and the Goa-based club. However, there was a clause in the agreement that stated that Khan would have to attend “8-10” matches annually, especially the ones against bigger teams, and the superstar couldn’t commit to that owing to his busy schedule, meaning the agreement was eventually called off.
