Pepe's interesting airport story!

Former Real Madrid star Pepe is grabbing headlines for leading FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage at the age of 40. But here's another interesting story from the early days of his career: Born in Brazil, Pepe travelled to Portugal for the first time in 2001 after his transfer from Corinthians to Marítimo. Upon his arrival, the 18-year-old youngster faced a tough choice. With just €5 in his pocket, he could either call his mother or buy something to eat. Pepe chose to call his mom. But when his hunger became unbearable, he went to the Pans & Company counter at the airport with no money and asked one of the employees if there was anything to eat. To his surprise, the employee returned with a sandwich, offering it to him free of charge. This simple act of kindness not only helped shape Pepe's character but also filled his heart with love for the country, confirming Portugal as his first choice on the international stage.
