Manchester United-Liverpool Rivalry!
Manchester United and Liverpool are by far two of English football’s most successful clubs, with a staggering 75 domestic major trophies between them.
In the 1970s and 80s, Liverpool reigned supreme in the country, winning 19 major trophies in 17 years under 4 different managers. But when a certain Sir Alex Ferguson arrived in Manchester in November 1986, the tide was soon to turn. In a period which almost seems apocryphal to the club’s supporters now, United won 21 major titles during the 90s and noughties.
But it was only in 2011 that they won their 19th league title, moving past Liverpool’s 18 and famously knocking them off their perch. In 2013, the Red Devils won their 20th, before the Reds brought the deficit down to just 1 after winning their first league title in 30 years in 2020.
While the blue side of Manchester has been a dominant force in English football over the last decade, Manchester United and Liverpool’s rivalry remains fierce and timeless.
