How football helped Suarez marry the love of his life!

Luis Suarez's love story began when he met Sofia Balbi in Uruguay. Both fell in love in their early teens; Suarez was 15 and Sofia was 13.

However, soon after, Sofia had to leave Uruguay to join her family in Barcelona in 2003. Suarez was so hurt by her departure that he quit football. But he quickly realised that his only way back to Sofia was if he made it to one of the top clubs in Europe.

In a game against San Eugenio, Suarez came off the bench and scored 4 goals for Nacional, which earned him a move to Groningen in the Netherlands. As soon as this happened, he reunited with Sofia, who moved closer to where he was. In 2009, the two got married, and they now even have three children.
