Little-known Legendary Liverpool Manager - Joe Fagan

Did you know that when Liverpool became the first English team to win the treble in 1984, their manager was a gentleman named Joe Fagan?

When we talk about Liverpool's greatest managers, Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, and now Jurgen Klopp are in the conversation. But did you know that when Liverpool became the first English team to win the treble in 1984, their manager was a gentleman named Joe Fagan?

Fagan became Liverpool's reserve team coach in 1958; he became the first-team coach in 1971; and in 1979, he took on the role of Bob Paisley's assistant. In 1983, however, Paisley stepped down, and Fagan took over as Liverpool manager and led them to a historic treble in the 84/85 season.

Unfortunately, in 1985, after the Heysel Stadium Disaster, Fagan decided to retire. After serving Liverpool Football Club for 27 years and contributing to 33 trophies that the club won during that period, Fagan rode off into the sunset.
