From playing in the KDB Cup to playing alongside Kevin De Bruyne himself, this is the story of Chelsea's young sensation Romeo Lavia.

KDB Cup is an under-15 international youth tournament started by Kevin De Bruyne in 2016 to provide young footballers with a platform to show their talents. In 2019, fifteen-year-old Romeo Lavia participated in it, representing the eventual champions, Anderlecht. However, one huge name was in the audience that year. On a special invitation from Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola came to watch the KDB Cup. He was so impressed with Romeo Lavia that he signed him up for City the next year.

One year after playing for the Manchester City Academy, Lavia started training with the first team alongside Kevin De Bruyne. Due to limited first-team opportunities, he signed for Southampton in 2022. And finally, 12 January 2023 was a special day when Lavia came face-to-face against Kevin De Bruyne, playing for Southampton in the EFL Cup quarterfinal match against Manchester City. And that's not all! Lavia's Southampton defeated De Bruyne's Manchester City 2-0 with a star performance from the teenager.
