India at the AFC Asian Cup

The AFC Asian Cup is the most prestigious football competition in the continent, with several countries lifting the trophy in its 67-year history. India isn’t one of them. In fact, they’ve qualified for just 5 of the 18 editions so far, including the upcoming one in Qatar.
Incidentally, India’s first appearance at the continental stage was also their best-ever finish. In 1964, India finished runners-up. As good as that campaign was though, the 1984 edition was equally disastrous as India had to bow out in the group stage. After winning the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup, India secured direct qualification to the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, but this time as well, they were knocked out in the group stage.
In the 2019 edition, a 4-1 win against Thailand set the tone perfectly for the Blue Tigers, but it wasn't enough in the end and they had to suffer a similar fate. How far do you think India can go this time around? Let us know in the comments!
