Forest Green Rovers - The greenest club in the world

Since becoming the Chairman of Forest Green Rovers, Dale Vince, a British Green Energy industrialist and environment activist, transformed the club into “The Greenest team in the World”, according to FIFA and “The World’s First Carbon Neutral Club”, according to the United Nations. The club banned meat for fans and players and became the world’s first vegan football club in 2015. The club’s stadium is also equipped with numerous eco-friendly innovations, including solar panels, charging spots for electric cars and the reuse of rainwater to maintain the pitch.

The club now boasts a global fan following of environmentalists, including famous names like Hector Bellerin, who is also the club’s second-largest shareholder. Newly promoted to the EFL League One, the team became the first in the world to play in a football kit made from a composite material consisting of recycled plastic, bamboo and coffee grounds in 2021. Interesting? Isn’t?
