FC Union Berlin Fans - Who Bleed For Their Club

FC Union Berlin Fans who bleed for their club

This is a remarkable tale of fans who bleed for their beloved club. FC Union Berlin has been a surprise package in the Bundesliga this season. After remaining a title contender for most of the season, the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League. It’s quite an achievement for a club that was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time just four years ago.

Yet what truly sets Union Berlin apart is the unwavering dedication of its supporters. When the club was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2004, fans initiated the "Bleed for Union" campaign. As people get paid to donate blood in Germany, several fans donated blood to save the club. Four years later, the ageing stadium jeopardised the club’s licence. With Union still in financial difficulties, 2,500 supporters volunteered and put in a combined 140,000 hours of work to renovate the stadium, cutting costs and ensuring the club's survival. Isn’t that amazing? Follow for more.
